Statewide stair installation
Stair Installation & Construction, done the Maryland way
A carpet-to-hardwood stair conversion is the single biggest visual upgrade a foyer can get. In the 2004-2015 colonials around Fulton, we pull builder carpet off particleboard stringers and install solid oak treads stain-matched to the main level so the two-story foyer finally reads as one space.
Older staircases are usually restoration, not replacement. Century-old Chevy Chase stairs hide quarter-sawn oak under shellac buildup; Silver Spring's sixty-year-old split-level half-flights squeak and thud until we rebuild them over re-shimmed stringers. Wherever we work, we replace only the treads past saving, mill-matched to the originals, and fix the creaks at the source before anything gets covered.

Why one local crew
The person who measures your floor is the person who quotes it
We're a flooring crew, not a franchise. Every quote is fixed and honored for 60 days, with no day-two "we found something" surcharges unless you approve them in writing first. We've been laying, sanding, and rescuing Maryland floors since 2009, and most of our work now comes from referrals inside the same neighborhoods — the only marketing metric we really trust.

Maryland stairs questions, answered
How much does it cost to replace carpet on stairs with hardwood in Maryland?
A carpet-to-hardwood stair conversion typically runs about $150-$250 per step, including carpet and staple removal, solid oak treads, risers, and stain-matching to your floors. A standard 13-step flight lands in the low-to-mid thousands — the single biggest visual upgrade a foyer can get.
Can you match new stairs to my existing hardwood floors?
Yes — site-finished treads get the same stain and sheen schedule as your floors, so the staircase reads as original to the house rather than an add-on. If your floors are being refinished too, we time the stairs to match the fresh color exactly.
Can you install luxury vinyl on stairs?
Yes, with purpose-made vinyl stair treads and nosings that continue your LVP up or down the stairs. What we won't do is bend a plank over a stair edge — those fail — so we use the correct stair-specific pieces every time.
Do you fix squeaky or loose stairs?
We rebuild squeaky half-flights over re-shimmed stringers, re-set loose balusters, and refinish or replace handrails. On older staircases we check stringers and wedges while the stairs are open and fix the creaks at the source before anything gets covered.
How much does hardwood stair tread and riser installation cost?
New solid treads and risers over sound stringers typically run about $110-$220 per step, prefinished for same-day use or site-finished for an exact match to new hardwood. Railings and full balustrade work are quoted on site.
